A Committee Film
COMMITTEE FILMS
Committee Films make highly polished niche films and are now preparing their fourth full length feature.
We know from our own experience, the more parochial the film the greater the likelihood of international success. More specifically, that means that by giving a film a particularly local feel or making it ethnically very specific, for example very British, makes it most attractive to international audiences.
Our budgets our modest (our first feature Cock and Bull was made for £12 000) Plato’s Breaking Point £50 000 and The Refuge for £ 300 000. We still resist any idea of making films above the £500 000 mark but are being encouraged to expand our ambition to larger budget films
So far we have made films in what could be described as the ‘arthouse’ slot. But our next film combines a poetic sensibility with the demands of a film that can function within the genre that could be described as Classic Children’s Movie. With action, emotion, romance and high drama THE BOY AND THE PROPHET. ACanadian/UK co-production will be our first $5 million feature. (click here for more info)
What we believe in:
Strong story telling...to entertain an audience...to make a respectable return for our investors...and become a distinctive voice in UK cinema.
We may not be there yet but we fully intend to produce that left field hit that will reward all the effort that everyone involved in Committee Films has put in...and soon.
